It's obvious you're looking for the Zoo and the Botanical Gardens. You can get there by going south from Lan Kwai Fong and taking a short but steep walk along Glenealy Street. You'll also have to pass under the flyover. To get there directly from the Star Ferry you can take buses #12 or #3B. Both tourist locations are open daily from 6am to 7pm and charge no entrance fee. They have a nice collection of birds and animals and make a nice and relaxing refuge from ratling city life. I go there daily :).
